How to make padsicles with tucks

Padsicles with Tucks are a postpartum relief method that combines maxi pads with Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads to provide comfort and relief after childbirth. Here’s how to make padsicles with Tucks:

Materials Needed:

  1. Maxi Pads (without fragrance or added chemicals)
  2. Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads (witch hazel pads)
  3. Aloe Vera Gel (optional)
  4. Plastic Ziplock Bags
  5. Freezer

Steps:

  1. Gather Your Supplies:
    • Ensure you have all the materials you need, including maxi pads and Tucks Medicated Cooling Pads.
  2. Open the Tucks Pads:
    • Take each Tucks Medicated Cooling Pad out of its individual packaging.
  3. Prepare the Maxi Pads:
    • Open the maxi pads but leave them attached at the center fold so they can be easily folded back together after adding the Tucks pad.
  4. Apply Witch Hazel (Optional):
    • If you’d like to add extra soothing properties, you can apply a thin layer of aloe vera gel onto the surface of the maxi pad before adding the Tucks pad. Aloe vera can provide additional cooling and healing benefits.
  5. Place Tucks Pad on Maxi Pad:
    • Lay one Tucks Medicated Cooling Pad flat on the center of the maxi pad, aligning it with the middle.
  6. Fold the Maxi Pad:
    • Carefully fold the maxi pad back over the Tucks pad, ensuring that it completely covers the Tucks pad.
  7. Repackage in Plastic Bags:
    • Place each prepared padsicle into a plastic Ziplock bag to keep it clean and hygienic.
  8. Store in the Freezer:
    • Arrange the individually packaged padsicles in your freezer. They’ll need a few hours to freeze thoroughly.
  9. Use as Needed:
    • After giving birth, when you require postpartum relief, take a padsicle out of the freezer and let it thaw slightly for a minute or two before using it.
    • Place the thawed padsicle inside your underwear with the Tucks pad side against your skin. The cooling sensation and witch hazel can help reduce swelling, discomfort, and pain in the perineal area.
  10. Dispose Properly:
    • After use, dispose of the padsicle in the trash. Do not flush them down the toilet.

Padsicles with Tucks can provide soothing relief during the postpartum period, particularly if you have experienced tearing or discomfort in the perineal area. Always consult with your healthcare provider for personalized postpartum care advice, and ensure you follow any specific instructions they provide for your recovery.
